  • When does it make sense to try to tell a data story and when does it not make sense?

Assignments Due

Assignment 2 is due before class.

In-class activities

WTFcsv Brainstorm

In class we will be doing a brainstorming activity using WTFcsv. This is a web based application that tells you what is in a .csv file, an extremely common way to store data.

I’ll give a little background on .csv files in class, and walk through the application. And then in groups, you will:

  1. Load one of the sample .csv’s

  2. Use WTFcsv to analyze and brainstorm questions.

  3. Fill out the printed question handout you will be given in class.

  4. Discuss as a class your answers and what makes a good data based question.
